Do not call me!

I’ve had it with people calling me and telling me they saw my resume “online”.  Really? That is your answer? You saw my resume “online”?  That is like saying I saw you last week at a store. So when I ask them “That’s wonderful! Can you tell me which website it was? Did you have a job opening posted on Indeed.com? Or did I apply directly to a accounting position on your companies career webpage?”  I’d say about 7/10 times I get some kind of silly answer of “I don’t know where I saw it” Or ‘I didn’t see your name, my assistant did”.  Bull Shit. Bull Shit. Bull Shit.

World Finanical Group: You probably saw my resume on Career Builder.

American Income Life: You probably saw my resume on Career Builder

NAA Leads:  You probably saw my resume on Career Builder

Even Health Markets.  Never heard of them. Career Builder or Monster.

And I hate to say it, but just because someone resume is on CareerBuilder, does NOT mean that person applied DIRECTLY to your company and DIRECTLY to THAT POSITION you want filled.

Another thing is, these stupid bafoons don’t want to tell me where they saw my “resume online” since they KNOW that I will REMOVE my name, phone number and resume from that website.

It’s okay. You like to LIE to people. You like to hide the truth. Insurance salesmen do this all the time and tell you big dreams and big big returns and swell interest in 15 or 20 years.  And I got news for everyone that just happens to work in the life insurance business. I’m happy for you if you make a living in life insurance. For me, I’m done with Life Insurance. I’ll never go back to that again.  Working for free for 5 months? Are you kidding me? Commission only? Cold Calling business? Door knocking? Ask the waitress if she has life insurance when I got out to eat? What kind of crap job is that? Oh yeah, and the best one yet: Paying $20 per lead? Really? You must think I have a bank account stacked full of …..hmmm $1K I can just “dip into” anytime I need to buy more leads? Is that it?

The next time I get a phone call from anyone saying that they “saw my resume online” I’m not even going to ask them directly what website. I’ve done that before and I get stupid answers from stupid people. I’ll just change my resume today so you will never know I was in Life Insurance and when you call me, I will hang up on you. Why? Professional people know what website they found a resume on. Professionals put an AD ON Indeed. Professionals also expect the job seeker to go onto the company website and apply to a job on the “Careers” page.

Do not dodge the question with me.  When I ask a question, answer THE VERY QUESTION I answer. Don’t answer a question that I never asked. Politicians do that crap. I will hang up on you. You will not get me to work under you in life insurance. I can’t stop you from calling others. Call them. I can’t make you stop building your business.  You will not call me anymore.

I ask “How do you get your leads?”and that question is never answered.  I want to know “Will I be a telemarketer?”  If you don’t know what a telemarketer is, then you need to read my post titled “Do not call List” and that will tell you what a telemarketer is.  A telemarketer will call about 400 poeple in 3 hours. (I did not say speak to 400 people in 3 hours).

Even if I dial numbers all day long 7 hours a day, I’m still a telemarketer and that’s what I Do NOT want to do in life insurance.  I also don’t want to go to my friend to sell life insurance.  Why?  Because I view WHOLE life insurance as a bad investment since you are putting about $1,200 a year into ONE Company and BANKING on that ONE comapny and HOPING they will do good.  I would tell my friends to get TERM life insurance.

If that comapny tanks, what happened to your $1,200 a year that you paid for the last 10 years? Opps.  Gone.  If that company tanks you think you will get that 100,000 death benefit when you die? Nope. You can SAVE $1,200 a year into a saving account and you can take that money out at anytime to fix your car or whatever.  Life Insurance?  Sure you can get a LOAN out of your life insurance, but you got to pay that loan back from your WHOLE Life Insurance  AND if you don’t pay it back – then your death benefit will go down and down and down and down since your loan will grow INTEREST!!   Took out a $50K loan on your $200,000 policy?  Ouch.   You better find a way to pay back that loan or you will be sorry if you don’t. There are also surrender fees too.

You know what the first thing that is talked about when I go on job interviews for life insurance? It’s always the same thing! Commissions. I don’t care about that. Why? Because you are only going to talk about the TOP producer. I don’t care about that. Tell me about your bottom feeder! Tell me about your average Joe and what it is like in your first 3 months of working in life insurance.  You see, I need a pay check each and every single week that I work.  For the first three months I can’t afford to work for free. I get it. You got to build a relationship with people and people will NEVER to business with you if they don’t trust you!

Sometimes in Life Insurance you are given an OLD book of business from someone other former Life Insurance Agent…..I mean OLD business from 2 or 3 years ago.  Your manager will expect you to RESELL that person a new policy….a better bigger policy….may be one that the person can not afford!!! It is called UP selling.

They may expect you to go to your “Warm market”.  They assume since YOU know your friends and coworkers, that they are “warm” to you.. And they assume that your friends have NO life Insurance policy in place already and they assume that your friends have the cash flow to purchase a life insurance policy.

Note: When I say “Life Insurance Policy” I mean WHOLE LIFE or WHOLE INDEXED LIFE, or UNIVERSAL LIFE. When I worked in Life Insurance, no one sold term life. Why? The commissions were too small. It was not about making someone else rich or well off with retirement funds. It was about making themselves rich.

I’m done.  Don’t call me.
